FUN FACTS: SETX petrochemical/oil and gas industry is called “The Golden Triangle”.
Why? Because Beaumont, Orange, and Port Arthur are experiencing a massive multi-billion dollar investment boom driven by soaring global energy demand and localized expansion projects.
2026 held a consecutive four month upstream job growth. Crude oil production broke national records at 13.8 Billion barrels a day. That is a lot of oil, ya’ll!!
This region has been permanently transformed into an international energy corridor. QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil have joined together to create a $10 billion dollar project and have already begun global shipping.
So what that means is- job growth. Exponential job growth in the SETX area-not just Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange.
Expected job growth within the next 12 months looks something like this:
Permanent and Direct Operations: 500-1500 job openings
Indirect – Construction and Support: 5,000 + job openings
Not only will that create jobs for the refineries, themselves, but other jobs that are indirect to the refineries. Sure, some of these plants will have people transferring from all over the world for positions, including corporate level positions. But that also means that those people will need housing, vehicles, groceries, go out to eat, buy clothes, get gas, go to salons, pay bills-etc, contributing to the economy and local businesses. Therefore, the trickle down effect will create more jobs within the community as the businesses grow and thrive.
2027 will give the tri-county area a very big, much needed big change.
However, with this growth and change, SETX will still remain down-home and quaint among the communities. The locals will stay friendly, and the new folks will learn to live in the South and live LIKE the South. Everyone will gain from this is more ways than just jobs. Bigger communities means more friends and more families. More good times, traditions, memories, and historical events to be made.
SETX is coming back! Get ready!
